Sacramento Kings big man Harry Giles has been officially ruled out for the remainder of this season due to a left thigh contusion, leaving him sidelined for the team's final five games. Though this is unfortunate news, the rookie says he is thankful for the opportunities that were given to him throughout this campaign:

Giles' injury occurred in the first half of a game against the Dallas Mavericks on March 21. Head coach Dave Joerger decided to hold the former Duke Blue Devil out for the second half as a precautionary measure. According to several reports since then, Giles did not incur any setbacks in his recovery, but he still has a bit of stiffness in his thigh.

In 58 appearances with the Kings as a reserve this season, Giles racked up averages of 7.0 points on 50.3 percent shooting from the field, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 14.1 minutes per outing.

With Giles ruled out for the remainder of this season, Marvin Bagley III, Kosta Koufos and Nemanja Bjelica will continue to play key roles in the frontcourt. Bagley returned from an illness on Tuesday and notched 19 points, eight rebounds and one block in a 130-105 loss to the Houston Rockets.

The Kings (38-40 and third in the Pacific Division standings) will be back in action on Thursday night, when they'll welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers to town. Tip-off inside the Golden 1 Center is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
