Sacramento Kings big man Marvin Bagley III says one of the biggest lessons he took from his rookie season was to put his expectations on the back burner.

Bagley, the second overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, only started four games last season and played about 25 minutes a night under head coach Dave Joerger.

The Kings replaced Joerger with Luke Walton this summer. While Bagley figures to see more playing time and plays called for him in 2019-20, the lefty isn't going to expect anything and is going to show up ready to play every night no matter what:

“I’m not going to come in expecting nothing,” Bagley told Jason Jones of The Athletic. “That’s the biggest thing I learned last year. I’m just going to show up ready and that’s what I’m going to do. I’ll show up ready to play. Whatever they’ve got going on, whatever they want to do with the team, I’m going to leave it up to them.

“I’m just going to be there, ready for whatever happens, do my best and do my job when my number is called. That’s my mindset going into the season and I think if I do that everything else will follow and take care of itself.”

As a rookie, Marvin Bagley III showed why he was the second pick in the draft. He averaged 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting an efficient 50.4 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from the 3-point line.

The Kings are excited to see how Bagley and rising star De'Aaron Fox are going to function in Walton's offense next season.
