There's good and bad news for Sacramento Kings second-year big man Marvin Bagley III.

The bad news is that Bagley has a non-displaced fracture in his right thumb and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

The goods news is the Kings' youngster won't require surgery, according to James Ham of NBC Sports California:

Bagley played 28 minutes against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. He finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Kings lost by a final score of 124-95.

Bagley, the second overall pick in the 2018 draft, averaged 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game during his rookie season while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from the 3-point line and 69.1 percent from the charity stripe.

The Kings are looking to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2006. Bagley is part of Sacramento's core which is headlined by De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Harrison Barnes and Harry Giles.

Losing to the Suns was a bad start to the season for the Kings. This Bagley injury makes the beginning of the season even worse for Sacramento, but there's still 81 games left and Bagley will be back in four-to-six weeks.

The Kings host the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday in their home opener.
