Sacramento Kings talented point guard DeAaron Fox is expected to take the leap this season. The fifth overall pick of the 2017 NBA draft, a lot is expected from a player of his billing. Last season, the unconvincing averages of 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4,4 assists, and a steal for starting 60 games were enough to overshadow his flashes of brilliance. As a sophomore, the awaited breakthrough year may come as this season progresses.

However, Fox took a different kind of leap this preseason. During their matchup with the Phoenix Suns, guard Davon Reed got his own miss and attempted a putback. A nifty pump fake got Fox in the air, but the amazing part is how he soared as he bit on the fake.

Fox has demonstrated some incredible hops in that sequence. The leaping ability seen was not the actual surprise, but how much more can be done with the athleticism that he already possesses.

With no clear franchise cornerstone in tow for the Kings, it is a mantle that Fox can eventually take. Gifted with the necessary physical tools, athleticism, and talent, he has the makings to be a pseudo-John Wall.

It is quite clear that the Kings are not even close to contention in the deep Western Conference. If their patience on homegrown development pays off, we can see quality players, and possible stars to emerge in the Kings' stable. They are pieces away to be relevant once again but keep an eye on them this season, because they just might surprise you.
