The Golden State Warriors find themselves just a game away from earning a second NBA title in the last three years over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, one of the underlying story lines during the Warriors' dominant run the postseason has been the play of Klay Thompson, who has notably struggled to find his offensive groove putting into question his long-term future with the team. According to the Vertical's Chris Mannix, Thompson has at least given that possibility some thought but values winning above everything else.

Golden State could get better. The core of the team – those four 20-somethings just entering the prime of their careers – aren’t going anywhere. The skill level of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green is matched by an awareness of what it is they are a part of. Recently, I asked Thompson if he thought about one day being the face of another team. He shrugged. “Yeah,” Thompson said. “It’s just winning is so much fun.”

Although there could be plenty of major individual benefits such as a greater offensive role and possibly a bigger contract, Thompson has found solace with the huge amount of success the Warriors have achieved over the last three seasons.

The 27-year-old has struggled with his shot for much of the playoffs averaging just 15.4 points on 40.4 percent shooting from the field and 38.2 percent from 3-point range. However, it should be noted that Thompson has picked up his play over the last two games scoring more than 20 points and knocking down at least four 3-pointers in each contest.

He had his best performance of the playoffs in Game 3 with his first 30-point outing of the postseason while playing a huge role in the Warriors' win on Wednesday night.

Golden State is seemingly head and shoulders above the rest of the league with Thompson being a big part of that. Their current core group of players are all in their prime which should leave the door open to many more NBA Finals appearances over the foreseeable future.

However, if the Warriors struggle to build off this pending second NBA title, Thompson's comments at least indicate he would entertain possibly leaving. Until then, he remains a huge part of Golden State's bright future ahead.
