Since the free agency period has begun, the New York Knicks have had their eyes on adding pieces to the backcourt.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the Knicks are reportedly interested a few veteran point guards that include a couple of former All-Stars.

There has long been mutual interest between the Knicks and Derrick Rose expressed throughout offseason. However, the line may be drawn in the sand in terms of the front office meeting his previous reported desire of a max contract of five years for $150 million.

Rose has already met with the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency but no deal was worked out. There was also a reported interest in reuniting with his former head coach Tom Thibodeau and teammate Jimmy Butler, but they elected to bring aboard former All-Star point guard Jeff Teague on a three-year, $57 million deal instead.

Rajon Rondo‘s name has been tossed around over the last few days with the Los Angeles Lakers expressing the most interest in the former All-Star guard. He was waived by the Chicago Bulls ahead of free agency in order to avoid paying the remaining $10 million of his $13.4 million salary for the 2017-18 season.

Meanwhile, Shelvin Mack has only received interest from the Knicks up to this point in free agency. Mack just finished his second campaign with the Utah Jazz and sixth season in the league. He could likely be the team's backup plan if both Rondo and Rose decide to sign elsewhere in free agency.
