It's been another putrid season in The Big Apple, as the New York Knicks have a lowly record of just 12-48, which puts them in the 15th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. However, the team may have found a gem in second round pick Mitchell Robinson, who is establishing himself as one of the best shot blockers in the league in just his first season in the NBA.

Entering Tuesday, Robinson is averaging 2.2 blocks per game. That's third in the NBA and ahead of the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

Knicks head coach David Fizdale loves his youngster and says Robinson is a “special gift” to the franchise.

Mitchell Robinson was the 36th overall pick in the 2018 Draft. The 20-year-old Florida native is averaging 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season for the Knicks while shooting an efficient 68.8 percent from the field.

Robinson has had some nice dunks this season along with his stellar blocks. Along with small forward Kevin Knox, it looks like New York had a good 2018 Draft class. Now, the organization just has to develop them the right way and keep their heads on a swivel.

With Kristaps Porzingis in Dallas now, the future in New York is Dennis Smith Jr., Knox and Robinson.
