Despite 27 points from Derrick Rose, the New York Knicks fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night in overtime. After the game, however, a member of the purple and gold gave the veteran guard some flowers.

Earlier this season, Lakers talent Talen Horton-Tucker, who made the go-ahead three in overtime, spoke about how he idolized Rose growing up. After the win, he wasn't afraid to let folk know that the moment was a big deal to him, especially since he and Derrick Rose call the same place home.

“Not too many kids from Chicago can say they did that,” said Horton-Tucker, who scored seven of his 13 points in overtime against the Knicks.

For the Lakers, Horton-Tucker was amazing. The talk of the town, honestly. A hero the purple and gold needed while superstars were dealing with injuries.

“He's got big guts and he showed that with that shot,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said after toppling the Knicks. “He had a young player type of night with good and bad plays. He kept his poise though and remained confident.”

As for the New York Knicks, while the loss will hurt since they were in control for a large portion of the game, it's important to remember just how young most of the roster is. Yes. Sure. There's guys like Derrick Rose on the squad, but it's not abnormal for a team full of twenty-somethings to just have a bad stretch.
