The New York Knicks are expected to introduce Leon Rose as their new president after the All-Star break. Rose is currently tying some loose ends off at CAA before he leaves the agency for the Knicks. According to Steve Popper of Newsday, Rose isn't expected to keep general manager Scott Perry.

The first and most vital move for Rose is naming a general manager, a role still manned by Scott Perry. But he is not expected to survive the purge of the latest incarnation of the Knicks rebuilding plans. The coach, David Fizdale, was ousted in December, and team president Steve Mills followed last month. A source said Perry is not expected to last beyond his contract that ends after this season.

Perry signed a five-year deal with the Knicks in 2017. He was with the Sacramento Kings before that.

Knicks owner James Dolan began exploring the front-office model of hiring a player agent shortly after firing Steve Mills. The Golden State Warriors under Bob Myers and the Los Angeles Lakers under Rob Pelinka have had success with the former agent model.

The Knicks’ roster is pretty flawed right now, so Rose’s main priority moving forward is to hire the right coach and GM to lead the franchise. He reportedly will have Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau on his coaching search list.
