The 9th overall pick of the New York Knicks in 2018 NBA Draft, Kevin Knox has slowly emerged as arguably the steal of the draft.

A Wildcat alum, he averaged 15.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game as a freshman with Kentucky. Despite the critics and the doubts, he significantly raised the bar on himself with his Summer League outing.

With an average of 21.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, the future and the expectations for Knox drastically went higher for him the Knicks.

Among those who are expecting from Knox is former NBA star Jimmy Jackson.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Jackson said:

“He’s a bigger version of Devin Booker,’’

He continued with:

“He’s got all the same skills but he’s taller.”

Those are lofty expectations for the Knicks forward. Devin Booker just averaged 24.9 points last season. Not to say it is not achievable by the Knox, but it will be a tall task for any rookie even for someone as talented as him.

The difference maker might be the chip that Knox carries on his shoulder. With all the disbelief and judgement surrounding him, it might just be the kind of fuel that he needs to be better and prove everyone wrong.

He is surely someone to keep your eyes out for this upcoming season. The talent and the intrigue that he possesses are more than enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.

A future Devin Booker or not, the future is bright for the young Kevin Knox.
