The New York Knicks for the last several months have had the constant chatter surrounding the organization concerning Carmelo Anthony‘s future with the team.

During an interview with Shaun Powell of NBA.com, Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis chimed in on the situation by praising the 10-time All-Star while voicing uncertainty as what will transpire ahead:

“He’s an All-Star, an incredible player and I’ve learned so much from him,” Porzingis said. “There’s still so much for me to learn form him. I would love to have him around and keep playing alongside him. But it is what it is. It’s a business. If it ends, well … I don’t know, it’s out of my hands. I’m really thankful for these couple of years I’ve been with him, just seeing how he works during the summer. It proves he wants to win and he wants to be great. I’m sure he’ll make the right decision for himself.”

Anthony has clearly had a major impact on Porzingis through his first two seasons in the league. It also explains why things had quickly gone sour between himself and former team president Phil Jackson prior to his firing.

At the same time, there is a clear recognition by Porzingis that Anthony's future in New York is ultimately in his hands due to possessing a no-trade clause in his contract. He essentially has the final say on any potential deal that comes about.

Although he would want Anthony to return for another season with the Knicks, it appears that a trade is inevitable in this situation. It's just a matter of time before Anthony gets his wish to be moved to the Houston Rockets or another team such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, who could make an appealing case for him to waive his no-trade clause.
