In many inside circles, there is a belief that Kyrie Irving will leave the Boston Celtics this offseason. Exactly which team he would like to join is still up for debate, but his high school coach seems to think the New York Knicks have the best shot at landing the All-Star point guard.

Kevin Boyle served as Irving's coach at Saint Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. And though he can't confirm it, he feels that the Knicks could be a team to keep an eye on in the offseason hunt for Uncle Drew:

“I think there’s a good chance in my opinion that Kyrie ends up there,” Boyle told SNY.tv. “In my gut, I would think that would work best for him and I would think that (the Knicks) have a really strong chance of that happening. But I have not spoken directly to him and I don’t know that to be a fact.”

Irving and the Celtics had high hopes for the 2018-19 campaign. Gordon Hayward returned from his horrific leg injury, and the team went on to secure a No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Things were looking up in Beantown. In fact, the Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers in their first-round series. However, the C's were ultimately sent home in the semifinal round, as they were defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks in five games (4-1).

Irving, now 27 years of age, enjoyed a fine season. In 67 appearances (all starts), the former No. 1 overall pick racked up averages of 23.8 points on 48.7 percent shooting from the field (40.1 percent from beyond the arc), 6.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 33.0 minutes per outing.

It's not clear if Irving truly has intentions of leaving Boston. If he were to take that route, there would likely be several teams interested in his services. Then again, he could simply choose to stay with the team, despite all of this speculation.
