The New York Knicks and owner James Dolan hired super-agent Leon Rose to be their new team president back on Feb. 6, though he has yet to assume the official position.

Frank Isola reported Rose will take over on Monday, finally making the transition from agent to the front office:

While Rose has yet to actually partake in basketball operations, he is already been making headlines. Rose reportedly has interest in bringing Carmelo Anthony back to New York (via Marc Berman of the New York Post):

Incoming Knicks president Leon Rose is expected to be interested in bringing Carmelo Anthony back to the Knicks next season, according to multiple NBA executives.

Rose has served as Anthony’s agent at Creative Artists Agency since 2009. Rose was hired by Anthony partly to engineer his departure from Denver to the Knicks in a blockbuster deal at the 2011 trade deadline. Their union will end in the coming days as Rose officially takes control of the Knicks. Will there be an encore?

Aside from Anthony, Rose has also been an agent for the likes of LeBron James, Chris Paul and Allen Iverson. He helped play a vital role in orchestrating the contracts that allowed James to team with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami in 2010, and he also proved essential in forcing the Denver Nuggets to trade Anthony to the Knicks the following year.

There will be plenty of eyes on Rose from the jump. His predecessor, Steve Mills, failed woefully and eventually lost Dolan's trust.

Rose might have a longer leash, but the pressure will be on to turn the Knicks into a consistent winner.
