After missing out on stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency this summer, the New York Knicks used their cap space on seven veterans — one of them being small forward Marcus Morris.

Morris, who spent the past two seasons with the Boston Celtics, wants the Knicks play with an old-school mindset this season and be a team other clubs don't want to face:

The Knicks have been a walking disaster for years under owner James Dolan. The franchise hasn't made the playoffs since 2013 and had the worst record in the NBA last season.

However, the seven veterans the Knicks signed this offseason are tough-minded individuals who are going to help and teach the youngsters in New York what it takes to win in the NBA. Those veterans include Marcus Morris, Julius Randle, Taj Gibson, Bobby Portis, Elfrid Payton, Wayne Ellington and Reggie Bullock.

Last season with the Celtics, Morris averaged 13.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 75 games. He shot 44.7 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.

While the Knicks should win more than 17 games this season, it's highly doubtful they will compete for a playoff spot. Don't tell that to Marcus Morris, though.
