We're barely a week into the new season and already, there has been talk of a potential coaching change for the New York Knicks. Despite the squad from The Big Apple logging their first win of the new campaign on Monday against the Chicago Bulls, 105-98, head coach David Fizdale's job security still appears to be questionable at this point.

According to Chris Mannix of SI, one man who could potentially replace Fizdale as the Knicks' new shot-caller would be none other than Mark Jackson.

Fizdale was a good soldier during last season’s 17-win tank-a-thon, but how hard this team plays in the next few weeks is worth watching. One name to consider if the season really starts to careen: Mark Jackson. The ex-Warriors coach (and ex-Knick) was a favorite of GM Scott Perry during the interview process in 2018, and Jackson has made no secret about his desire to coach again. Fizdale won’t be expected to perform miracles with this group but New York can’t let the season slip away quickly.

Fizdale and the Knicks finally got off the mark on Monday, securing a relatively impressive victory against the Bulls. This was thanks in large part to the effort of Bobby Portis, who recorded 28 points (on 10-of-14 shooting), four three-pointers, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 30 minutes of play.

As stated above, the expectations for New York this season are not very high. However, coach Fizdale will need to prove that he is leading his young squad towards the right direction. Otherwise, he might just end up as being this season's first coaching casualty.
