The New York Knicks have decided to lift their ban on the New York Daily News after being fined $50,000 by the NBA.

According to an official account from the NBA, the Knicks did not allow the New York Daily News to participate in their post-draft press conference on Friday, June 21. However, other credentialed media outlets were allowed to attend the event.

Now, after taking the $50,000 hit, New York is willing to comply with the NBA's equal access rule for members of the media:

The Professional Basketball Writers Association sent out an official statement with regards to the New York Daily News being held out of the press conference:

“The New York Knicks' decision to ban New York Daily News journalists from RJ Barret's and Ignas Brazdeiki's introductory news conference Friday was unprofessional and unacceptable,” PBWA president Josh Robbins wrote. “James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks franchise, previously has said that barring Daily News employees from media availabilites sends the Daily News ‘a message.' In reality, the only message he is sending is that he is a bully who retaliates against legitimate news outlets that publish content he dislikes.”

Knicks owner James Dolan does not like the way the New York Daily News covers the Knicks. Now, though, he'll simply have to deal with their presence at future events.
