The New York Knicks made two acquisitions today, adding John Jenkins and Phillip Carr. ESPN's Jordan Schultz reported that free agent shooting guard Jenkins signs an Exhibit 10 with the Knicks.

An Exhibit 10, an addition to the recent CBA, is a two-way contract with additional incentives for the player once he is called up by the NBA team within the initial 45 days of the season.  This allows a team to see the performance of the player in the D-League and explore their options for both their teams. With John Jenkins, performance with the Portland Trail Blazers in the recent Vegas Summer League, New York certainly got interested signing the player and exploring his potential.

In the other signing, undrafted rookie Phillip Carr signs a contract with the New York Knicks. With his credentials in Morgan State averaging a near double-double in his last season, scoring 13.7 points  and grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game, the New York native can be a diamond in a rough for the Knicks. With Kristaps Porzingis coming off an injury and Kevin Knox still yet to prove his dominance in the league, the Mid-Atlantic Defensive Player of the Year could be a defensive addition to the team as the need arises. Playing in his hometown will serve as his motivation to perform every single night he's given the chance.

This will be a huge transitional season for the Knicks. They've revamped their front office, hired a new coach in David Fizdale, and are expected to be huge players in the free agency class of 2019. Porzingis won't be ready to return until at least Christmas, and the organization will likely focus on developing their young players while also making a fourth consecutive appearance in the lottery.
