Like most teams around the NBA landscape, the New York Knicks are still trying to finalize their roster for the upcoming regular season. Inevitably, some players won't make the cut. And on Tuesday morning, the team announced that they have waived guard Tyrius Walker.

Walker signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Knicks in July. The 22 year-old played his collegiate ball at Morehouse College, where he earned the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year award. His 22.8 points per game during the 2017-18 season led the Maroon Tigers to their best start in school history. And just for the record, he's only the second player in Morehouse history to play in the NBA.

“He is a gamer,” Morehouse head coach Grady Brewer recently told The Undefeated, referring to Walker. “When the lights come on, he’s going to get it done. His potential, it really, really hasn’t been seen. … This guy is special.”

Walker, a native of Atlanta, GA, earned a training camp invite from the Knicks after a solid showing in this year's Summer League tournament, where he racked up averages of 6.3 points, 2.0 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals in three games.

Tyrius Walker logged 10.3 minutes in the Knicks' 124-121 win over the Wizards on Monday night, finishing with just one point on 0-of-3 shooting from the field, four fouls, and a pair of turnovers.

All is not lost, however. If Walker agrees to go to the Knicks' G-League affiliate (the Westchester Knicks) and stays there for 60 days, he'll earn $5,000 to $50,000.
