RJ Barrett is aware of the current state of the New York Knicks franchise, but the former Duke University standout appears ready for all the challenges ahead of him.

Barrett is expected to land with the Knicks in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Knicks own the third pick in the draft and will pick behind the New Orleans Pelicans and the Memphis Grizzlies, respectively. The Pelicans are expected to take consensus top pick Zion Williams, while all signs point towards the Grizzlies taking Ja Morant.

The Knicks finished with the worst regular-season (17-65) record last year. New York also missed the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. They have high hopes this offseason, as they have a chance to acquire players who could help them revive the franchise.

Barrett said that should the Knicks draft him, he is ready for the challenge of turning the franchise around.

“I feel like that would be a challenge that I’m willing to accept,” Barrett said via Marc Berman of the New York Post. “If the Knicks pick me, you give everything you got every game and work my butt off and put them on the winning track.”

The Knicks are reportedly “locked on” in selecting Barret in this Thursday's draft. The Canadian superstar actually refused to workout with the Grizzlies, as he is determined to land in New York.
