NBA players utilize their free time in a variety of ways. Some choose to hit the links for a round or two of golf, while others are keen on sticking to their workout routines. For New York Knicks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr, it's trips to home improvement stores.

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Hardaway recounted one of his trips to Home Depot, where he intended to purchase some replacement light bulbs. As he walked through the aisles, several fixtures caught his eye, including a gas stove and stainless steel refrigerator.

For most, trips to a home improvement store can be grueling. Not so for Hardaway, who says he actually enjoys them.

“It's just a good way to get your mind away from basketball,” Hardaway told Bleacher Report.

The NBA season is a bit of a grind. 82 games can certainly take a toll. Some players rely on their hobbies to get through it. Hardaway Jr. says he often watches Home and Garden Television (HGTV) to relax.

“I watch basketball here and there, but you get tired and need to get away from it,” Hardaway said. “HGTV is my channel to relax. I watch it all the time.

“The past three days that's the only channel that's been on my TV,” Hardaway added.

Though he watches several of the shows on HGTV, Hardaway tells Bleacher Report that his favorite is “Fixer Upper” — a series in which the husband and wife duo of Chip and Joanna Gaines purchase and renovate homes.

For the record, Hardaway says his affinity for home decorating and renovation came from watching MTV Cribs.

“I was like, ‘Let me get an idea of what my dream home would be,'” Hardaway Jr. said. “An ultimate pad for everyone — family, friends—to enjoy.”

Hardaway's method of relaxation seems to be working just fine. In his 13 appearances with the Knicks this season, the former Michigan Wolverine has racked up averages of 23.2 points (team high) on 41.6 percent shooting from the field (35.5 percent from beyond the arc), 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and a steal in 32.2 minutes per outing.
