Walt Frazier believes nothing has changed even though the Brooklyn Nets pulled in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving this past summer. The NBA legend is still strongly convinced that New York will remain a Knicks town, per Ian Begley of SNY.

The Knicks had big plans this summer. They were in a good position to acquire two top-tier free agents. They were strongly linked to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving even before the offseason started. However, the Knicks eventually struck out in free agency, as they failed to nab a superstar from the market.

While the Knicks failed to land a big fish, their crosstown rival, the Nets, made a lot of noise, getting two big prizes. Brooklyn acquired both Irving and Durant, signing both players to four-year contracts. Frazier admitted he was shocked that the two superstars went to the Nets because nobody saw it happening.

Frazier insisted, though, that he thinks New York will still be a Knicks town because signing two superstars does not guarantee success for the Nets. He pointed out that Brooklyn once had a collection of superstars, but the experiment did not work with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

The Knicks legend also praised the front office for doing a decent job despite failing in its bid to add a superstar. Frazier liked the additions of Julius Randle and Marcus Morris, along with the Knicks' decision to draft RJ Barrett. Frazier also expressed optimism that the Knicks will eventually land a big fish in 2020.
