Duke star Zion Williamson was reportedly rooting to go to the New York Knicks, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

The New Orleans Pelicans won the draft lottery and will have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. They are widely expected to draft Williamson, who is the best player in this draft class by a wide margin.

The Knicks have the No. 3 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. It's still good, but fans are very upset they weren't able to get the first pick. Knicks fans really wanted Williamson in The Big Apple.

In his lone season at Duke, Williamson averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Knicks will have cap space this summer to sign two max contract players. They have been heavily linked to signing Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving and Golden State Warriors small forward Kevin Durant. Both stars are unrestricted free agents this offseason once they decline their 2019-20 player options with their respective teams.

Williamson would have been fun to watch at Madison Square Garden.

Now that he's most likely headed to the Pelicans, though, we'll only get to see Zion at MSG once a year.
