Former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins says the New York Knicks need to hire Tom Thibodeau to be their next head coach.

The Knicks are going to hire former NBA agent Leon Rose as their new president of basketball operations soon. It just so happens that Rose and Thibodeau have a very close relationship since Thibodeau was represented by CAA.

Perkins, who won a championship with Thibodeau on the Boston Celtics, says Thibs is the perfect guy to make the Knicks a winner again:

Rose is expected to at least interview Thibodeau and Jeff Van Gundy. He will handle all of his duties, including speaking to the Knicks media once Dwyane Wade's three-day jersey retirement ends this weekend. Wade's jersey retirement is the final thing Rose has to do with CAA.

Thibodeau has a regular season coaching record of 352-246 with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves. He was the 2010-11 Coach of the Year with the Bulls and helped the Timberwolves snap their playoff drought in 2017-18.

Some say Tom Thibodeau is too old school and pushes his players hard, but as Kendrick Perkins suggested, he's a winner. The Knicks need someone who is going to hold the players on the team accountable and work them.

New York will miss the playoffs again this season. Rose is expected to hire a new general manager as well as a new coach, which means Scott Perry is in his final days with the Knicks.
