Before agreeing to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, Andrew Bogut also fielded feelers from other teams.

According to NBA.com’s David Aldridge, there were at least three other teams that came knocking on Bogut’s door: the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Australian generated that much interest despite playing in just 27 total games last season for the Dallas Mavericks and the Cavs due to injuries. He began the 2016-17 season in Dallas, where he played 26 games before the Mavericks traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers, who then waived the big man. The Cavaliers afterward scooped Bogut up from waivers, signing him to a one-year contract.

Back in free agency over the summer, Bogut’s age – he’s 32 – and his perennially hurt frame must have played a big part in why it took him longer to find a new team.

However, there are always teams who’ll always be in need of experience, size, rebounding, and rim protection – qualities that Bogut possesses – so Bogut garnering this much attention shouldn’t really be surprising. It also helped him that Luke Walton was reportedly active in recruiting him to the Lakers.

Still, it’s interesting to imagine how Bogut would’ve fit in with the Timberwolves, the Celtics, and the slightly altered Cavaliers.
