Like most of the NBA-loving world, Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Anthony Davis is excited for Tuesday night's regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Lakers acquired Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans this offseason. The former No. 1 overall pick likened this highly anticipated matchup to Christmas or the first day of school:

“It's like Christmas,” Davis said during Tuesday's media availability. “It's like the first day of school. You go through preseason, training camp and days of practice for this moment right here — to toss the ball up for real. We're anxious to get started.”

With LeBron James serving as his running mate in the frontcourt, many experts are already viewing the Lakers as a favorite in the Western Conference. The Clippers, on the other hand, are also being viewed as a top contender for this season. TThe Battle for L.A. will be in full swing.

Davis made 56 appearances with the Pelicans last season (all starts), racking up averages of 25.9 points on 51.7 percent shooting from the field (33.1 percent from beyond the arc), 12.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.4 blocks and 1.6 steals in 33.0 minutes per outing.

Tuesday night's Lakers-Clippers matchup is set to tip inside Staples Center at 10:30 p.m. ET, with TNT having live broadcast coverage. LA will be without the services of Paul George, as he is still recovering shoulder surgeries.

Let's see who takes the first bout in this rejuvenated rivalry.
