The Los Angeles Lakers catapulted themselves as the favorites to win the NBA title next season following their blockbuster acquisition of former New Orleans cornerstone superstar Anthony Davis. Paired with the great LeBron James, this duo is definitely one of the most astounding pairings we've witnessed throughout the league's entire history, and we have the numbers to prove it.

NBA insider Alex Kennedy points out the fact that James and Davis have two of the most impressive PER's (Player Efficiency Rating) of all-time. As a matter of fact, these guys are the only two players who have a PER that is above 27, with the third being no less than Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

Admittedly, the PER is an abstract statistic that requires a deep understanding of advanced statistics in order to fully comprehend. We will not attempt to explain the same here, but what we will say is that being in the same sentence as MJ is definitely something noteworthy.

For a more basic statistical presentation, we can simply look at the career numbers these two gentlemen have put up in their respective tenures in the NBA.

Entering his 17th season, James has garnered career averages of 27.2 points (on 50.4 percent from the floor), 1.4 three-pointers, 7.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks.

Widely considered as one of, if not the best big man in the game today, Davis boasts career stats of 23.7 points (on 51.7 percent shooting), 0.4 three-pointers, 10.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.4 blocks.

At this point, there's no way to tell how their newly-formed partnership will affect their production, but at the very least, they should absolutely be fun to watch.
