After a strong finish to the 2016-17 NBA season, there are high expectations for Brandon Ingram. As the Los Angeles Lakers open the new season against the Los Angele Clippers, Ingram struggled with his shooting during the preseason (37.3 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from the three-point line).

With the Lakers needing Ingram to showcase his All-Star potential in his sophomore season, the 20-year-old knows he is going to be a great player in this league according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN:

“I know I am going to be a great player in this league,” Ingram told ESPN before he opens his second NBA season Thursday night against the LA Clippers.

After President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson called Ingram ‘untouchable,' there is likely a lot of pressure on him to perform at a high level. Throughout the offseason, the organization praised the second-year forward's work ethic.

Although there are high expectations, Ingram needs to let the game come to him. At just 20 years old with so much potential, there should be patience as he figures out what works/does not work at the NBA level.

Ingram averaged 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in his rookie season.
