The Los Angeles Lakers believe they have a star in the making with Brandon Ingram. The Duke product brings a lot to the table for the storied franchise and has the support of Magic Johnson and company as he heads into his second season with the team.

Following practice on Friday at the team's facility in El Segundo, Ingram talked about Luke Walton playing him at the point guard position at times during practice. The 20-year-old wants to be versatile as possible for the Lakers as he tries to take the next step in his development.

“I want to be versatile,” Ingram said of about playing point guard. “Of course, that's not my natural position, and that's not what I want to play all game, but I think I can see myself running a few plays from the point position mixing it up a little bit.”

With rookie point guard Lonzo Ball still day-to-day with a sprained ankle, there's a chance Ingram sees some time bringing the ball up the floor on Sunday against the division rival Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas. Ingram could be leaned on to initiate the offense for Walton if Ball can't play as the team attempts to win their first preseason game on the road at T-Mobile Arena.

Ingram and Ball both missed the team's last game at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, California with the Lakers convincingly falling to the Denver Nuggets for the second straight game.

The second-year forward was ruled out due to a head contusion he suffered in practice earlier this week while Ball was still on the mend from the sprained ankle he sustained in the team's first meeting with the Nuggets last Saturday. Ingram is considered probable for Sunday's game while Ball is questionable.
