Damon Jones says Magic Johnson's resignation left Los Angeles Lakers star small forward LeBron James frustrated. Johnson stepped down from his president role during an impromptu press conference with reporters. No one inside the Lakers organization saw the move coming.

Jones claims James was stymied by Johnson's resignation because the plan they put together was probably going to be deviated. Magic met with James at his Los Angeles house on the first day of free agency last summer. The two men reportedly talked for four hours on how to rebuild the Lakers and get the franchise back to the playoffs.

The Lakers missed the playoffs this season. The left groin injury James suffered against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas was too much for the team to rebound from. LeBron missed 17 consecutive games. The Lakers went 6-11 during that stretch.

Not only are the Lakers without a president of basketball operations right now, they also have no head coach. General manager Rob Pelinka is leading the coaching search. Tyronn Lue, Monty Williams and Jason Kidd have reportedly interviewed for the position.

2018-19 might have been LeBron's most frustrating season. It's going to be interesting to see what the Lakers do this summer to improve the roster around The King.
