To say that the Los Angeles Lakers have failed to live up to the lofty expectations many had on them prior to the start of the season would be an understatement. The 2020 NBA champions have struggled mightily through the first quarter of the campaign and at this point, many believe that the Lakers should begin worrying about what the rest of the season holds for them.

For his part, however, Lakers veteran Dwight Howard does not appear to be overly concerned. The eight-time All-Star has been in this situation in the past and Howard remains confident that his team has what it takes to turn their season around:

“Yeah, we good man,” Howard told TMZ Sports. “Right now this season it's early. Everybody's playing at a really high level right now. We expected that. We expected everybody to come out and play their hardest against us. With that being said, we're gonna be ready by the time the playoffs start. That's when we start dominating.

“Rome wasn't built in a day. This is a brand new team than it was in 2020. All of us are really trying to learn how to play together and get our games going. It's not about how you start, it's how you finish. Don't worry, Lakers fans. When it's time to dominate, the Lakers gon' be there.”

Howard has sent out a bit of a warning to the rest of the league here, as well as to all of the critics that are saying that the Lakers are done for the season. We haven't even reached the halfway mark of the 2021-22 campaign and already, the pitchforks have been drawn out.

There's no denying that the Lakers haven't been very good of late and that there need to be some changes within the squad. However, as Howard noted above, he's confident that LA will step it up when it matters the most. Once they are able to figure things out, the rest of the league better be ready.

As Dwight Howard so aptly put it, when it's time to dominate, the Lakers are definitely going to be there.
