Hip-hop icon Ice Cube took a shot at Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for choosing the Los Angeles Clippers over the Los Angeles Lakers.

In an interview with Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times, Ice Cube admitted that he wanted Leonard and George to come to the Lakers. In his opinion, the two went to the Clippers simply because they wouldn't be able to handle the pressure brought by donning the legendary Purple and Gold jerseys.

“I wish they would have come to the Lakers, but I guess they picked the team that they were more comfortable playing with,” Cube said of Leonard and George. “You got to be special to play for the Lakers. You have to be ready for all that comes with that. Those championship banners and those jerseys are looking down at you when you play for the Lakers, and it’s probably easier to play if you cover those up for some people.”

During the summer, rumors mushroomed everywhere that the Lakers were about to lure in Leonard and form a Big Three with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. George, for his part, has expressed his dream to be a Laker before, but he snubbed the team in the summer of 2018 and went back to Oklahoma City Thunder.

George forced his way to the Clippers after Leonard asked to team up with him in Doc Rivers' squad.

Compared to the Lakers, the Clippers have undoubtedly achieved more in the past years. Winning has always been the benchmark for success, and the Clips have missed the playoffs just once in the last eight seasons. The Purple and Gold, meanwhile, haven't qualified for the postseason since the 2012-13 campaign.
