JR Smith worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday in addition to Dion Waiters, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

Smith played in 11 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season before the franchise exiled him. Cleveland waived JR after being unable to find a trade partner for him.

Smith averaged 6.7 points per game with the Cavs last season. He has career NBA averages of 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists and was part of the 2016 Cavs squad which won the title over the Golden State Warriors in seven games.

JR will always be linked to the Lakers since he has a rapport and history with LeBron James. The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference at the moment, but another shooter like Smith around LeBron and Anthony Davis could make them even more lethal on offense.

Are LeBron and the Lakers ready for the complete JR Smith experience? That's the million dollar question.

As we all know, in Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals between the Cavs and Warriors, Smith made a mistake for the ages which created possibly the best LeBron meme ever.

The game went into overtime after Cavs point guard George Hill missed the second free throw which would have given Cleveland a one-point lead. Smith got the rebound but dribbled the ball out to the perimeter, clearly not knowing that the game was tied.

The Cavs got swept by the Warriors. Moreover, LeBron suffered a bone contusion in his right hand after punching a white board following the Game 1 loss.

Both Waiters and Smith have played with LeBron. It's going to be fascinating to see which player the Lakers decide to sign.

The Lakers are 46-13 on the season. They are back in action on Tuesday against the Sixers.
