At 18-13 entering play on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers are quickly rising in the standings. After starting the season 2-5, LeBron James' team is now 16-8 over their last 24 games. And according to Hall of Fame Lakers forward James Worthy, via TMZ Sports, more help could be provided in the form of Carmelo Anthony.

“I think Carmelo has proven that he's an outstanding shooter,” Worthy said. “Kind of what we need … He's at the end of his career. I think if he'd be willing to take a certain role, I think he'd be OK.”

Carmelo Anthony is currently a member of the Houston Rockets, but it's only a matter of time before he's moved. If the 34-year-old does change teams at some point this year, it'll be his fifth team since September of 2017. Anthony was traded by the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder, then from the Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks nearly a year later. After being waived by the Hawks this offseason, Anthony signed a free agent contract with the Rockets.

But the forward has played only 10 games this year for Houston, averaging a career-low 13.4 points on 40.5 percent shooting from the field and 32.8 percent from three-point range. The Rockets have kept Anthony inactive for the last six weeks while they attempt to find him a new home.

It remains to be seen if Anthony could provide the asset that the Lakers need, as Worthy suggested, but three-point shooting is certainly not their strong suit. Los Angeles ranks No. 16 in three-pointers made and attempted, and No. 17 in overall three-point percentage.
