After the 2019 NBA Draft left a ton of somewhat highly regarded prospects available as undrafted, teams have begun signing players to deals. The Los Angeles Lakers recently reached an agreement on undrafted Nevada Wolf Pack guard Jordan Caroline.

As noted by HoopsHype’s Alex Kennedy, Caroline will sign with the Lakers. Caroline is a three-time all-conference player for Nevada, and had a college career to remember. During his final season at Nevada, he averaged 17 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, while making 45.2% from the field and 36.8% of his three-point attempts.

Caroline has worked out with the Lakers in each of his last two offseason, and even entertained the NBA draft last year before returning to Nevada for his senior season. It’s unknown what his role will be for the Lakers, but Caroline is a bit a versatile player. At 6-foot-7 and 215-pounds, Caroline has played both shooting guard and small forward, and could be a valuable piece if he develops well.

For the Lakers, they’ll be looking to possibly mine any diamonds they can out of this undrafted class. After acquiring Anthony Davis in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, the Lakers will still have to shed some contracts in order to get a third max contract slot. After that, the team is going to look much like a modern-day superteam, with a handful of great players and role players filling out the bench.

Should Caroline be able to contribute for the Lakers, he’ll be a great addition for a team that has its sights set on an NBA championship.
