Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma was feeling himself after hitting a game-winner against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. Kuz stated  he was in such a zone that he would still fire even if “Jesus” were guarding him.

Brooklyn Nets star and noted Twitter hawk Kevin Durant had a humorous response to Kuzma's quip, saying “I got Jesus gettin a stop.”

Durant was not the only star to react though, as LeBron James also shared his thoughts on his Lakers teammate's remarks.

“The King” seemed to applaud Kuzma for exhibiting such confidence, suggesting that the former first-round pick needs to be the third star in order for L.A. to make a deep playoff run in Orlando.

Kuzma has had a very up-and-down season for the Lakers. He sustained an injury during preseason and struggled to adapt to being a member of the second unit.

The Lakers had to be encouraged when Kuzma started to ooze confidence shooting from beyond the arc during scrimmages. After all, Kuzma had been shooting below 30 percent from deep entering the seeding games.

Indeed, Kuz has looked every bit the third scorer the Lakers need him to be going forward. Despite shooting just 3-for-14 in a loss to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, Kuzma responded by scoring 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting on Monday against the Nuggets.

Time will tell whether Kyle Kuzma can build on this performance and be efficient on a more consistent basis. But for now, the youngster feels like he can score on anybody — even if Durant respectfully disagrees.
