Kevin Durant has requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, leaving every other fan base in the league to fantasize about him joining their squad. Los Angeles Lakers fans would be lying if they didn't daydream about KD teaming up with LeBron James in purple and gold at least for a split second.

But according to the latest report from The Athletic's Sam Amick and Jovan Buha, the chances of the Lakers not only entering the Kevin Durant sweepstakes but coming out with the winning offer aren't just slim. The two reporters left their chances at a definitive “zero”.

Via The Athletic:

As for the prospect of the Lakers trying to get in on the Durant sweepstakes themselves, perhaps by making Davis available in the process, a source close to the situation put the chances at “zero.” Their focus, it seems, is on Irving. And vice versa.

The thought of Kevin Durant joining a Lakers team that features his ex-teammate turned frenemy in Russell Westbrook as well as his biggest rival in LeBron James was a drama factory waiting to happen.

Yet now that Durant has formally asked for a trade, a natural next question has emerged: Does this mean the possibility of Irving reuniting with LeBron James and the Lakers is alive again?

Yes. Very much so.

But it appears it's LeBron's ex that they're putting their focus on, with Kyrie Irving now back on the trade market with KD's latest announcement. Buckle up, folks. Things are bound to get spicy this NBA offseason.
