Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant is one of the fiercest competitors in the world. However, there came a time in his life when he was the most vulnerable.

Former Lakers assistant coach Tom Bialaszewski dropped the details on this tense moment.

Bialaszewski was on The Woj Pod where he shared some insider information on the fateful day that Bryant tore his Achilles. He recalled that the Purple and Gold were on a roll during that time. They were fighting for a playoff spot in the competitive West. Nonetheless, in the 80th game of the 2012-13 season, the unimaginable happened to Bryant.

When Kobe received news that it was indeed an Achilles tear, he just fell apart.

“I remember my heart sank. That's terrible, obviously… We were peaking at the right time. But then, to go into the training room after the game and just see him laying in the training room with his girls, his wife… just despondent and probably didn't know whether it was the end of his career. Like that was the first time I've ever seen him vulnerable,” narrated Bialaszewski, who worked with the Lakers from 2012 to 2016.

Kobe Bryant's injury was one of the saddest days in sports. He was 34-years-old during that time, right at the tail-end of his illustrious basketball career.

The Black Mamba was widely successful then, but being the competitor that he was, he was looking to salvage up one last ring with the Lakers before finally hanging it up. The good thing was that Kobe Bryant was able to come back. While he didn't post great numbers as before, he did drop 60 points in his final game — and that can be considered one of the strongest injury comebacks in history.
