It goes without saying that the Los Angeles Lakers have hit a rough patch lately. As a result, the frustration continues to mount for this young Lakers team looking to break out of its current funk.

Los Angeles has given up their fair share of close games by faltering down the stretch. However, forward Larry Nance Jr. feels it is their sluggish starts that have been this issue throughout the entire 2017-18 NBA season. Such was the case after the Lakers had been outscored by the Los Angeles Clippers 35-22 in the first quarter, according to Dan Duangdao of ClutchPoints

“I definitely feel like they hit us first. That seems to be kind of the theme of this year. Whether it was me and Brook, Kuz and Brook, Ju and Kuz, it doesn't matter. [It's] me too. Whoever we're starting with right now is having a hard time getting going early on, and that's something we have to fix as well.”

Los Angeles seemingly had a loaded frontcourt coming into the year. Nance Jr. managed to rise above them to claim the starting power forward position over Julius Randle. Unfortunately, he has been unable to help kickstart the team's energy from the tip-off.

Regardless, there is plenty of truth to Nance Jr.'s comments. The Lakers have managed to outscore opponents in the first quarter just once during their five-game losing streak, which came against the Portland Trail Blazers.
