On Saturday, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James participated in full contact defensive drills for the first time since he suffered a groin injury on Christmas against the Golden State Warriors.

While it is still unknown when LeBron James is going to play again, this is a huge step in the right direction for The King and the Lakers.

The Lakers have gone 5-10 since James went down. They are now out of the playoff picture, as they have a record of 25-24 on the season.

James is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game on the season. The four-time MVP is shooting 51.8 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from the 3-point line and 68.2 percent from the charity stripe.

When James sustained the injury against the Warriors, the Lakers said the next day he was going to be day-to-day. That hasn't been the case, though, as LeBron has been out of action for over a month now. Many people around the league believe James' injury is worse than what the team is saying publicly.

LA is in the ninth spot in the Western Conference standings. Until James returns, there's a chance the Lakers could continue to drop in the standings out West.
