Following their successful offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers fans have a lot of hope that this coming season will mark the end of their rebuilding process, and they will become a winning group once again. They brought in veterans like Brook Lopez and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to their fold to play alongside their young guns Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Brandon Ingram, and highly-touted rookie Lonzo Ball.

The team's president of basketball operations, Magic Johnson, is also full of optimism with the Lakers' chances this year, particularly with the chemistry two of his young players could form. He even talked about the possibility of Ingram and Ball building a strong bond, just like what he had with James Worthy during their playing days, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN:

Magic Johnson says “this will be a breakout season” for Brandon Ingram. Magic believes Ingram and Lonzo Ball can form same connection and chemistry that he had with James Worthy.

Ingram is entering his second season in the NBA, and had a solid rookie campaign, where he averaged 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Ball on the other hand, was a star at UCLA and is regarded as one of the best players of this year's draft, resulting in his selection as the second overall pick.

Johnson and Worthy were key pieces of the Showtime Lakers back in the 1980s and 1990s. They played nine seasons together and won three championships. If the two young players of the Lakers today can start having a good working relationship this year, it could kickoff the team's road to winning another title and also become stars in the league in the near future.
