We all knew this was coming right? The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a rough start and it's reported that Magic Johnson is upset with Lakers head coach Luke Walton. The team signed LeBron James in the offseason and expectations were sky-high before the ink was dry on the contract. It was as if the Lakers already won a championship, but now that they're off to a 3-5 start, Magic is asking questions.

But it's being reported by Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times that Magic is more concerned with the lack of an offensive system rather than the wins and losses. Turner writes:

“Sources close to Magic said he was stern with Luke Walton during the meeting more about not having a system in place than the wins and losses. Magic wants to see Luke have the Lakers run an offense that he has yet to see. Sources said that maybe the meeting opened Luke’s eyes.”

That last part is very interesting. The fact that the meeting opened Luke's eyes means something, but what it means exactly is debatable. Perhaps it means that Walton didn't realize how bad things have gotten. The Lakers have struggled to find an offensive identity and it sounds like the lack of an offensive system is rubbing the front office the wrong way.

Walton has been forced to shuffle lineups due to injuries and suspensions. The Lakers haven't had much continuity this season, but perhaps the meeting with Magic Johnson is exactly what Walton needed to light a fire under the Lakers.
