An NBA source says “people just don't grasp how good” Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball is, according to Ben Standig of NBC Sports.

Ball's IQ of the game and defensive ability is high for a 21-year-old. The Lakers might have to trade Ball this summer if they want to acquire New Orleans Pelicans star big man Anthony Davis or Washington Wizards All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal.

If there's a deal with the Lakers, most sources would want Ball involved regardless of any parent distractions from his attention-seeking father, Lavar. “People just don't grasp how good he is,” a source said.

In his second season with the Lakers, Ball averaged 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists. The former No. 2 overall pick shot just 40.6 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from beyond the arc and 41.7 percent from the free-throw line, but he did record four double-doubles and one triple-double.

Ball has to become a better shooter moving forward, but that's pretty much the only thing lacking in his game right now. Lonzo can get to the rim, finish in heavy traffic and see plays before they happen. Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James is a big fan of Ball's game.

Ball only played in 47 games in 2018-19. He suffered a serious ankle injury in January and missed the rest of the season.
