Shaquille O'Neal wants Jerry West to become the Los Angeles Lakers' president of basketball operations after Magic Johnson vacated the position on Tuesday.

Johnson shocked the whole NBA after he called for an impromptu press conference to announce his decision to step down as president of the Lakers. He reportedly didn't inform team owner Jeanie Buss or general manager Rob Pelinka of his decision.

While O'Neal said he respects Magic's decision and gave him well wishes, he stressed that business must go on no matter what. The Diesel then went on to point out that West is an ideal candidate to turn things around for the Lakers franchise.

Jerry West, a Laker throughout his playing career, undoubtedly knows what it means to be part of the storied organization. He also has an impressive resume when it comes to helping franchises become playoff and championship contenders.

West is credited for helping build the Golden State Warriors dynasty after joining the team as an executive board member in 2011.

In 2017, The Logo moved to the Los Angeles Clippers as an executive member and consultant for the team. The Clips are set to make the playoffs this 2018-19 season despite not having a superstar.

It's still too early to assume who will take over as Lakers president, and it's safe to say Jeanie Buss and the front office don't have a plan yet given the sudden turn of events. However, Shaquille O'Neal makes a great point on why West is a solid prospect for the franchise.
