According to Sam Amick and Bill Oram of The Athletic, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss didn't accidentally share e-mails with Magic Johnson that were critical of his job performance.

A report surfaced earlier this week stating that Buss and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka were emailing each other about how bad of a job Johnson was doing and that Buss mistakenly shared those emails with Johnson.

Magic, of course, stepped down from his position with the Lakers during an impromptu press conference at Staples Center. It was a move no one inside the organization saw coming.

The real reasons for Magic’s departure remain somewhat murky, but a source with knowledge of the situation adamantly denied the report indicating that Jeanie had mistakenly shared e-mails with Johnson that were critical of his job performance. Johnson did his best to break it all down during that surreal press conference in which he announced that he was done, but the truth is that it simply doesn’t matter anymore.

The Lakers are currently looking for a new head coach after the franchise and Luke Walton parted ways. It doesn't appear Buss is going to hire a new president of basketball operations.

All signs point toward Pelinka running the show from here on out.
