The Los Angeles Lakers are keeping an eye on an old friend in the event he gets bought out.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported the Lakers could have interest in Avery Bradley after the former Miami Heat guard was dealt to the Houston Rockets as part of the Victor Oladipo trade.

McMenamin cited the Rockets as having a number of guards already on the roster. Bradley has a club option for the 2021-22 season, but it is one Houston is probably likely to decline, anyway.

There would indeed seem to be the chance of a buyout. In that case, the Lakers could certainly get involved.

Bradley spent the 2019-20 season with the Lakers and was a valuable backcourt piece. He averaged 8.6 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and offering strong perimeter defense.

The 30-year-old opted out of the NBA restart, citing family concerns. He went on to sign with the Heat in free agency.

This season has not quite gone as planned for the former Texas product. He has not played since Jan. 9 after sustaining a calf injury early in the year. Bradley had shown brief signs of being impactful, however, shooting 42.1 percent from beyond the arc in a 10-game stint.

The Lakers tried and failed to land Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, notably because they were unwilling to part with second-year combo guard Talen Horton-Tucker.

Perhaps L.A. will look to Bradley as a backcourt option in the event he is bought out by the Rockets.
