LeBron James and Anthony Davis have shown impeccable chemistry in their first year together with the LA Lakers. That doesn’t mean the two stars don’t share awkward moments from time to time.

Unlike his lobs to Davis that usually leads to thunderous dunks, James seemed to have caught his co-star by surprise with a hug after the Lakers’ Game 5 win over the Houston Rockets in their Western Conference Finals series.

The awkward hug happened as the players headed to the tunnel following the Lakers’ wire-to-wire 119-96, which booked the Lakers’ first trip to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2010. Aside from surprising his co-star with a hug, James is also known to dance and playfully interrupt Davis’ postgame interviews after the Lakers win a series, as he did after the team eliminated the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round.

James and Davis have a lot of reason to feel good, as Los Angeles led the Rockets by as much as 30 points on their way to the dominant victory. The Lakers await the winner of the LA Clippers-Denver Nuggets series, which the Clippers currently lead, 3-2 heading into Game 6 tomorrow, as their opponent.

James finished with 29 points, making nine of 18 shots, while adding 11 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and was a +19 for the Lakers. He improved to 37-10 in closeout games for his career, including five straight wins. Davis, meanwhile, added 13 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists and was a +29 for Los Angeles. The former Pelicans star booked his first trip to the Western Conference Finals, while LeBron returns after missing the playoffs last year in his first year with the Lakers.
