Prior to the start of this NBA season, San Antonio Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge found himself at the center of trade rumors which spread quickly.

It was unusual hitting the Spurs camp at that time of the year, and even teammate Pau Gasol found it all pretty weird.

Aldridge had just completed his very first season with the Spurs, and the team won a franchise record 67 games when the season ended.

Not only was the timing odd, but it just didn't make sense for an organization that usually doesn't show its hand on its inner workings.

The Spurs organization denied the rumors on all fronts, and so did Aldridge who expressed his contentment with playing in Texas.

“That’s just media . And that’s why I don’t get into it. The organization is happy with me, and I’m happy with them, and as long as we keep a good relationship then everything is fine.”

“It’s been great. My family is closer (to him in Texas than when he was in Portland). I’m closer to home (Dallas), and I’m in California during the summer (Newport Beach) so it’s just nice being in Texas year-round now.”

Aldridge opened the season helping the Spurs in a blow out win over the Golden State Warriors, scoring 26 points and adding 14 rebounds as if to point out that there is nothing to see here.
