NBA free agent Lance Stephenson may not be done with the NBA just yet.

After reports surfaced that the only chance he had of playing pro basketball next season may be overseas, that seems not to be necessary after all.

The Memphis Grizzlies declined Stephenson's $9.4 million team option which made him an unrestricted free agent, but no teams were knocking on his door to recruit him this summer.

According to The Advocate New Orleans' Brett Dawson, Stephenson received an invite to work out for the New Orleans Pelicans, but there is no deal in place.

If things go well for Stephenson, he has an opportunity to gain a training camp invite. If so, the ball will be in his court, but it will all boil down to what type of impression he can make on the organization.

If Stephenson fails to gain a roster spot on a Pelicans team that already has a number of guards, including 2016 sixth-overall draft pick Buddy Hield, he will be out of options and looking overseas as earlier reports suggested.

Lance Stephenson averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 26 minutes with the Grizzlies at small forward.

Shooting guard is his natural position at 6-5, but the forward spot might be his best shot at securing a spot on the team before the season begins.
