LeBron James has officially opted out of his contract and will become a free agent on July 1st. It seems that the two favorites to now land him with the opt-out is the Los Angeles Lakers or the Cleveland Cavaliers. James already owns a house in Los Angeles and now he is taking extra precautions to protect that house.

According to Sam Amico of AmicoHoops, James is getting security cameras set up in front of his Los Angeles home. The Lakers and their fans really feel they have a shot at James this summer, so could this be a precaution for what fans could do if he decides to stay with the Cavs. Or maybe James thinks that Lakers fans will be so excited if he chooses them that they will trash his house in celebration. Whichever way it goes, it seems that this means the decision won't take long after free agency opens, and it is expected he will make his decision by the 4th of July.

The one team that seems to be out of the running now is the Houston Rockets. With James opting out, it's going to be very hard for them to afford James plus sign Chris Paul unless both are willing to take a pay cut. If both decided to take a huge pay cut, they could make it work, but they still wouldn't have the money for Clint Capela.

This seems to be down to a two-horse race, and they both are neck to neck going into the home stretch.
