New Detroit Lions running back C.J. Anderson is turning heads and making his mark with his new team. And it isn't only because of exceptional play that he's showing in training camp practices; it's because of his mentoring that he's providing for the Lions' second-year back, Kerryon Johnson.

Anderson has plenty to teach the 22-year-old from his time in Denver learning under Peyton Manning and his brief stints in Carolina and with the Rams. The 2014 Pro Bowler is someone who has contributed to playoff success for both the Broncos and Rams with three Super Bowl trips and one Super Bowl win.

And what Anderson is trying to do with Johnson is asking him questions and giving the Auburn product a better understanding of how to be more knowledgeable at the pro level.

“It's more like, ‘What do you feel?' Or ‘What do you not know?' And then let me try to help you with what things you don't know. What me and you can do together. How to see the game. How can we talk, when I come off the field and telling you what I'm seeing, and when you come off the field you tell me. Things like that,” Anderson said per Michael Rothstein of ESPN.

And Kerryon Johnson is thankful for the tutelage that the 28-year-old is bringing. He's looking to build off of his strong rookie season that where he put together 854 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns. And luckily, he has someone that's looking to have him take that next step forward.

“Having C.J. has helped me a lot. He's taught me a lot of different things. There's guys that are always coming, guys that are always playing, and competition is fierce and keeps us on our toes and makes us all better,” Johnson said.

With the mentorship of C.J. Anderson and a healthier sophomore season, Johnson will be looking to make the leap to stardom.
